Anita has a passion for hands-on activities that engage learners of all ages. She strives to model practical ideas for differentiating instruction and to support school leaders and classroom teachers with curriculum implementation. With over 20 years experience as an educator across Australia and the USA, she now runs her own Mathematics Education Consultancy company. She has been both a secondary mathematics teacher as well as a primary and middle years consultant with the NSW DET in Sydney. Anita has conducted research into the use of concrete materials to teach Number and Algebra concepts in the Middle Years 5-9 and holds a MEd in Teaching and Curriculum Studies. Whilst teaching pre-service teachers at the University of Sydney she was nominated for a Teaching Excellence Award.

Anita’s whole school/faculty approach to providing tailored on-site professional learning across Australia K-8 encompasses in-class demonstration lessons, workshops for teachers and parents, small team curriculum planning meetings and long-term project work. In conjunction with Teacher Training Australia (TTA), she developed an innovative blended model of month-by-month PL for whole schools K-6 or communities of schools that enables educators to learn, implement, reflect and share their knowledge during a six-month period of time. Anita’s face-to-face workshops and online courses are designed to be highly engaging, practical, thought provoking and relevant to current teaching practices and curriculum. She is a highly recognised speaker at both national and state mathematics conferences in Australia.

Janette Bobis is Professor of Mathematics Education and Pro Dean Research in the Faculty of Education and Social Work at The University of Sydney. She teaches mathematics education to pre-service primary teachers. Prior to this, Janette was a primary school teacher and fixed-term lecturer in primary and early childhood education programs. She has led a number of large research projects, including the Empowering Teachers of Mathematics (2011-2014) project, and the Middle Years Transition, Engagement and Achievement in Mathematics (MYTEAM) project (2008-2011). Janette’s research and teaching expertise are well recognised, having received a Faculty Teaching Excellence Award in 2016, Thompson Research Fellowship in 2014, a national Practical Implications Award (2007) for her research on teacher education, a national Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning (2007) and a Vice Chancellor award for Outstanding Teaching in 2009.

Dr Jennifer (Jenni) Way is Associate Professor of Mathematics Education (Primary and Early Childhood) with a passion for better understanding children’s learning and engagement with mathematics. Through several national projects over the past 15 years she has developed many digital resources to support mathematics learning and teaching. Her current research focusses on children’s self-created mathematical representations and the challenges children face in understanding conventional representations presented by teachers.

Emma is particularly interested in curriculum design and the continuum of learning in mathematics from Kindergarten to Year 12. She is passionate about assisting teachers to implement logical and creative learning pathways in mathematics. She believes that language and visual representations are crucial to improving learning in the mathematics classroom.
Emma has worked in mathematics education for over 15 years. She taught secondary mathematics in two prominent independent schools in Sydney before holding the position of Senior Curriculum Officer (Mathematics) at BOSTES in 2011 and 2012, where she managed the development of the new NSW Mathematics K–10 Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum. Emma then worked as a mathematics consultant assisting schools and teachers to implement the new syllabus, before embarking on her current exciting role leading the Content and Curriculum Team in the revitalisation of Mathletics at 3P Learning. Sorubi is the CEO & Founder at IDEALearning. Whilst Sorubi was engaged in postgraduate study in the interdisciplinary fields of education, psychology and neuroscience, she simultaneously held a twelve year career as a high school teacher and school leader, teaching Mathematics, Computing and Special Education, serving in Catholic, Independent and the Department of Education & Communities schools in New South Wales. In 2013, Sorubi held the position of K-12 ICT Consultant for Sydney Public Schools, NSW Department of Education, providing professional learning support for 200+ schools in the former Sydney Region.
Prior to founding IDEALearning, Sorubi participated in the Aspen Brain Forum & New York Academy of Sciences Cognitive Neuroscience of Learning: Implications for Education, 2011, Colorado, USA and was a recipient of a Harvard Graduate School of Education scholarship for presenting a prototype of an online Learning Management System for international school leaders and policy makers for large scale improvement.
