How can schools create and sustain effective teaching and learning practices in Mathematics K- 6? What does quality Mathematics learning for teachers look like at your school? This interactive workshop looks at these questions from the perspectives of classroom teacher needs, the role and knowledge of team leaders and how this connects to the overall vision and culture of learning for teachers.
We look specifically at implementing a whole school approach and we ‘practice what we preach’ about good learning by examining models that work. We will examine how teachers can engage in professional learning conversations that are based on the needs and understanding of the children in their class or year levels. Participants will engage in conversations about mathematics pedagogical knowledge and how to share this effectively within teams. Team leaders will gain insights into facilitating effective group process. Participants will leave the workshop with some considered thinking and mapping on what a whole-school approach model might look in their school contexts.
